Retirement, Moving and Old Home Ownership

Well, I finally retired from my position with the School District the end of September of this year. Never thought I would get to this point but hey, looks like I made it. We left the SF Bay Area for greener (and colder) pastures landing in the central portion of the Hoosier State.

We were renting out in California so we decided to take a huge leap of faith and bought a home outright, without ever stepping foot in it first. Right. It's not quite like the house Tom Hanks and Shelley Long buy in the movie "The Money Pit" but it runs a close second. It has solid bones, just needs a butt-tonne of TLC. Our current plan of action revolves around doing one room at a time until all twelve rooms are up to snuff. Summer 2020 will include a full rewire of the house and power out to my garage. Next summer (2019) includes some semi-structural stuff and some rework on painted exterior surfaces. We also plan to get all the casement windows going again, too.

As far as my writing goes; I'm trying to ease back into it as I have time. Right now the house is my mistress and she demands a bit of attention. Tomorrow, repair the light over our master bedroom sink and fix the almost stopped up drain below said light.

I'll touch more on moving in subsequent posts. It's late and I want to go to bed. All y'all have a nice day, y'hear?
